To enter a dish, please call 610-0992. Your dish needs to
serve a minimum of 65 sample size portions. Please bring your entry to the venue location by 6pm on the night of the event.

Saga Humane Society would like to give a big Thank You to Bella Italia for hosting our Cook Off Italian/Pasta March 26.   There was an air of hungry eagerness as the Chef’s began to arrive with their pasta entries. It was a lively crowd that kept our raffle tickets sales busy. The new VIP tables for six sold quickly to Saga HS supporters Wolfgang Wind and Eisenberg family to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who attended to help support Operation SNIP, we consider you all Very Important People. It was a pleasant night for all that raised money for 25 SNIPs (spay/neuter) for low income residents.

After the votes were tallied the winner was Lasagna – Heather Smith. 2nd Place went to Tuscan Italian Soup with pesto toast- Nancy Nida from Fido’s.  3rd Place was Mama’s Classic Spaghetti & Meatballs – Rosa La Rosa.  The other fine dishes were: Macaroni & Cheese Balls with ranch dip and Chipotle – Luna Loca, Penne Pasta With Cheese Sauce – Carolina Mckay (sponsored by Michele Coldberg), Bacon Spaghetti – Bella Italia, Parmesan Chicken Pasta – Faride Lima. We are grateful to the Chef’s for their scrumptious entries, creativity and for their support.

We had some first-rate raffle prizes, Xtreme Geeks gift certificate, ABC Bar & Grill gift certificate, and a Black Orchid gift certificate. We value the charitable support from our local business community through their donations.

Such events would not be possible if not for the hard work of our volunteers. Thank you for your dedication; Rene Steinmetz, Iliana Paj, Heather Smith, Ingrid Lima, Judy Schreiner, Kathy Marin and Sandie Betz-Eisenberg.

SAGA Humane Society would like to give a big Thank You to Brandy Deangelo and the entire staff of Luna Loca for hosting our Cook Off Appetizers January 22.    There was an air of cheerful enthusiasm as the Chef’s began to arrive with their delicious entries. It was a sellout crowd who were ready to eat and kept our raffle tickets sales busy. A new option was added, VIP tables for six that could be reserved in advance. These sold quickly to Saga HS supporters Wolfgang Wind and Cara Bray to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who attended to help support Operation SNIP. It was a pleasurable night for all.

After the votes were tallied the winner was Tostones (plantain chips with ranch chicken salad) made by Letty Hernandez. 2nd Place went to host Luna Loca with Monte Cristo Bites.  3rd Place was Feliz Bar’s with Pepperoni Pretzel Pockets.  The other fine appetizers were: Stuffed Chicken bacon tomatoes- Carolina Zapata, Fruity Chicken Salad wraps -Renee Steinmetz, Jalapeno Bread with sausage- Carolina Zapata. We are grateful to the Chef’s for their delicious entries, creativity and for their support.

SAGA Humane Society would like to give a jolly Thank You to Diane and the entire staff of Wet Willys Cantina for hosting our Cook Off of Champions Thursday December 19th.    There was an air of festive excitement as the Chef’s began to arrive with their delicious entries.

It was an enjoyable night for all. With a matching grant from Board Member Heather Beck, the event raised needed funds to cover the expenses to SNIP over 40 low income island pets.

After the votes were tallied the Grand Champion for 2013 was Fido’s Restaurant with Shiitake Lobster Bisque.

There were two special raffles from Feliz Bar’s that were drawn. Tickets were sold during Feliz Bingo held December 18 for a gift basket of Picasso Spirits.

Plus a gift basket Krista won but returned to be raffled again for Saga HS.  Feliz Bar was able to raise $873 for Operation SNIP through their event. We appreciate the generosity of businesses who donate items and time to help support their community.

A big Saga THANK YOU to Average Joe’s Bar & Grill for hosting our February Cook-off.  It was a big success.  We thank everyone for attending and supporting all our cook-offs through out the year.

SAGA would also like to thank all 14 cooks who entered desserts in the cook-off.   A Huge THANK YOU to Black Orchid, Lonestar Grill & Cantina, LouAnn LeClair, Tara Traynor, Kakaw Chocolate, Carolina Gonzalez, Benjamin Vasques (Ellos), Elizabeth Burthley, AJ’s, Sand Bar, Amy Knox (Wild Mango’s), Feliz Bar, and Casa Pan Dulce.  Thanks also to Brian Cook (Fido’s) for sponsoring a dish!
