This exciting project funded by FOTHS is nearing completion!
The ISO Unit will provide housing for animals with suspected infections diseases where their health can be evaluated and their condition treated in a safe quiet environment without the risk of passing on the pathogens to the rest of our “family” at Fort Dog.
Besides the isolation kennels, there is a new concrete ISO facility where supplies can be kept, and animals with suspected health problems can be examined and treated. This lovely building will also provide short-term intensive care housing for sick animals.
This has been a rapidly evolving project from its initial humble aspirations for “just a few kennels just like the ones in Fort Dog”, through several design stages & suggestions by staff and professionals. Continued fund-raising by FOTHS enabled the Lighting of Fort Dog to become part of the overall project. Then the Isolation Facility itself also became first a dream, then a possibility, then an exciting part of the project.
WISH LIST: There are still a few things we need to complete the project:
Tiles - tiles were donated for some of the kennels, but we still need more. They don’t need to match, we’ll make a mosaic, or tile each one with a pattern. Tiles are important so we can properly sterilize these kennels.
Concrete Sealer and Paint or Stucco – bare concrete walls are not the final finish! but in order to do it right, we need proper concrete sealer or stucco/plaster and paint. If you have any extra left over from your job site, we’ll gladly dispose of it for you! White is preferable, but other colours will work too.
Grand Opening Party – We are going to throw a BASH for the Grand Opening, and will gladly accept party supplies, vouchers, entertainment, time and ideas to help make it happen.
We will be posting photos often to keep you updated on our progress.

Many thanks to Mari Hegstad and Ragnhild Vikan Skjevik for allowing us to replace the fence at the clinic!
The ugly old plywood fence has been replaced by a brand new picket fence. It not only looks great, but allows us to put in puppy runs so our puppies can get outside and play more and get much needed exercise, fresh air and sunshine. They find new owners much quicker when they’re happy and being puppies too!
Wish List:
Chain link fence for the puppy pens.
PVC or wood for framing the puppy pens.
Hardware for doors for the puppy pens.
